Purpose and Scope

The position assists college students with academic tutoring and/or mentoring to increase completion of degrees or certificates. Responsibilities include interacting one‑on‑one with students and a high volume of customers, providing high‑level information, and working with diverse groups.

Essential Job Functions
  • Tutor, act as scribe and proofread
  • Provide general information related to the department
  • Record maintenance, preparation, and review of forms; data entry
  • Provide handouts and/or forms to customers
  • Set up Financial Aid equipment (e.g., go‑center computers)
  • Event preparation and support
  • Maintain knowledge of multiple programs
  • Provide limited technology support to end users

  • Working knowledge of general office procedures and practices
  • Proficiency with office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary, involves occasional walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items. No special physical demands are required.

Work Schedule & Conditions
  • Use of PC workstation, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed
  • Work performed in a climate‑controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must be a currently enrolled Lone Star Student pursuing a course of study
Compensation & Benefits

Hourly Pay Rate: $16.22
