Job DescriptionProvide one-on-one and some group tutoring for students in science courses, especially in Chemistry and Biology; participate in training and team meetings; and complete administrative forms and reports. Typical workload is approximately 10-15 hours per week between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.
Essential Functions- Tutors students in the sciences, courses such as General Chemistry, Organic & Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Science, Physics, General Biology, Molecular Biology, Anatomy & Physiology.
- Maintains accurate updated records for appointments.
- Attends all meetings and professional development sessions
- Reports concerns and other relevant information to ACE Director
- Serves as a resource person for students in the sciences
- Serves as a liaison with various Faculty members and ACE to increase tutoring services for students.
- Participates in student workshops as needed.
- May be required to work weekends and/or evenings for special events.
- May need to conduct library or Internet research relevant to ACE programs.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as relevant to science tutoring.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Positive attitude about learning and enjoys student interactions.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent oral, written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree, with upper division science courses, required.
- Experience with tutoring, specifically at the college level, required
- Employment is contingent on a successful background investigation.
$13-15 hourly, depending on experience and/or degree. About 10-15 hours per week
