Under general supervision, this position is responsible for proctoring online exams in a secure environment. Proctoring and testing support functions are performed in a small office environment. Teamwork, ethical judgment and dedication to exam security are vital.
Essential Job Functions- Verify student identification and ensure that only approved students are taking the tests.
- Follow instructions communicated by faculty before starting the exam.
- Ensure that students do not possess any materials that violate test protocols.
- Administer exams and monitor students throughout their duration.
- Perform customer service functions, including greeting students and providing testing instructions/information.
- Make sound, ethical judgments regarding exam security.
- Perform administrative support tasks as needed, including recording statistics and entering student test discrepancies in a database.
- Troubleshoot test errors and equipment failures.
- Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.
- Basic computer skills (e‑mail, MS Office).
- Proficiency with general office machines (fax, scanner, printer, etc.).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent customer service skills.
The work is largely sedentary. The employee will sit comfortably to perform duties, with occasional walking, standing, bending, and light lifting of items such as papers or small parts. No special physical demands are required.
Work Schedule and ConditionsEquipment used includes a PC workstation tied to a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, a calculator, phone, and other general office equipment. Employees interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out job functions. Work is performed in a climate‑controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards. Scheduling may include morning, afternoon, or evening shifts on weekdays and weekends.
Required Qualifications- High school diploma or GED.
- Current Lone Star College students are not eligible to work in the Assessment Center as a Proctor due to test security conflicts.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish.
- Experience working in an educational environment.
- Experience working in an office environment.
- Experience administering or proctoring exams.
Hourly Pay Rate: $17.87
