Job Description Purpose and ScopeIt is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide the learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and the community. Primary responsibilities include planning, developing, and teaching courses within the curriculum to facilitate student learning.
CE adjunct faculty are hired in a part‑time capacity on a semester‑by‑semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the system. Adjunct (part‑time) faculty hiring is based on student demand. Teachers may teach a maximum of five classes per academic year.
Essential Job Functions- Teach Business & Professional courses at various times and locations.
- Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of material.
- Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
- Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
- Meet with and advise students before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
- Evaluate students to measure progress in achieving course objectives and inform them of their progress in a timely manner.
- Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
- Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
- Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.
- Mastery of course content.
- Demonstrated leadership skills emphasizing collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with a wide variety of people.
- Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies.
