The Pre‑K Teacher Assistant supports the Lead Teacher in delivering a nurturing, developmentally appropriate early childhood program for Pre‑K students during the 2025–2026 school year. This role plays a key part in supporting young children’s learning, safety, toileting needs, and social‑emotional development in alignment with The Village School’s mission and Nord Anglia Education standards.
Early Childhood and Instructional Support- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lessons and developmentally appropriate activities.
- Support children during individual, small‑group, and whole‑group learning.
- Facilitate play‑based learning experiences that encourage curiosity, independence, and social development.
- Assist with observing and documenting children’s progress and developmental milestones.
- Assist children with toileting, including diapering or bathroom support as needed, in accordance with school policies and safeguarding procedures.
- Support handwashing, hygiene routines, and self‑care skill development.
- Assist with clothing changes, accidents, and comfort needs in a respectful and age‑appropriate manner.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of toileting and classroom areas.
- Prepare and maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment.
- Set up learning centers, prepare materials, and display student work.
- Assist with snack routines, classroom organization, and daily transitions.
- Supervise the classroom when the Lead Teacher is temporarily out of the room.
- Supervise students during indoor and outdoor play, including playground activities.
- Ensure student safety during all classroom routines and transitions.
- Support children’s social‑emotional development by modeling positive behavior.
- Treat all children with dignity, patience, and respect.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Training or coursework in early childhood education preferred.
- Willingness to complete required early childhood, safeguarding, and health & safety training.
- Physical ability to meet the demands of caring for young children, including lifting, bending, and assisting with personal care.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young children.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with young children (early childhood setting preferred).
- Knowledge of early childhood development, including social, emotional, physical, and cognitive milestones.
- Experience supporting toileting, hygiene routines, and transitions for young children.
- Familiarity with play‑based learning environments and classroom routines.
- Experience working with diverse families and cultures preferred.
- Patient, nurturing, and attentive to the needs of young children.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Calm, flexible, and responsive in a fast‑paced early childhood setting.
- Highly observant and safety‑focused.
