Primary Responsibilities:
  • Plan, organize, and lead activities designed to promote academic, social, and emotional development in a supportive and engaging learning environment
  • Create an emotionally responsive, caring, positive, and accepting environment supportive of the individual development of each child and family
  • Supervise young children and ensure a safe and loving environment including the ability to monitor and respond to events going on at all times in the classroom, outdoor play areas, and other areas of the campus.
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students varying needs and interests
  • Attend staff meetings, serve on committees as required, seek and attend professional development opportunities
  • Evaluate each students growth and performance
  • Provide constructive feedback to parents
  • Prepare and distribute report cards online
Requirements

Minimum Education/Prior Experience/Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Teaching Certificate
  • High level of competence using technology
  • Experience in a PreK - 12 environment, preferably in independent schools is a plus
  • Strong references to convey teaching abilities
  • Successful completion of criminal offender record information and sexual offender registry information checks
  • Successful completion of CMG Safe Environment Training
  • Current CPR certification

  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Adherence to all personnel policies, procedures, and rules contained in the Duchesne Faculty/Staff Handbook

  • Possess strong people skills in order to be empathetic to children's and parent's needs
Essential Expectations:
  • All faculty and staff members at Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart are expected and required to do the following:
  • Overtly support and act in accordance with the Goals and Criteria of the Society of the Sacred Heart ; this expectation includes attendance at and applicable participation in faith-based practices.
  • Foster a safe, predictable, and supportive environment.

  • Demonstrate appropriate planning and preparation and fulfill routine responsibilities in a thoughtful and timely manner.
  • Uphold professional standards of personal presentation, professional courtesy, discretion, punctuality and attendance at all required meetings and events.
  • Appropriately carry out specific duties as determined by the Head of School and/or supervisor.
  • Maintain professional credentials and complete required training. Participate in and provide documentation for at least one professional development opportunity per year in addition to those required and provided by the school.
  • Respect the confidentiality of the school, its employees, students, and families.
  • Comply with the policies and procedures as articulated in the faculty and staff handbook.
  • Authentically engage in the school's self-reflection process that requires written goals and measured progress towards them.
