PRIMARY

PURPOSE:

The ESL Teacher will pull small groups of students needing assistance to give them additional support in LA to ensure their Academic Success.

QUALIFICATONS:

Required:

* Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited College or University

* Valid Texas teaching certificate

* ESL Certificate

Preferred:

* At least one year of student teaching or approved internship

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/

SKILLS:

* Knowledge of subjects assigned

* General knowledge of curriculum and instruction

* Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

* Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

* Flexible and patient

MAJOR

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

* Provide additional student support through small groups for all grades

* Assist administrators and teachers with the planning and implementation of effective instructional interventions and tutorials.

* Monitor the progress of identified students following STAAR interventions.

* Monitor the academic progress of identified students following interventions based on CBA data.

* Communicate by maintaining on-going communication with administrators, and classroom teachers.

* Any other duties deemed necessary by the principal to further develop the education of the students as a whole.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment.
