Education ​/ Teaching Intern, Youth Development

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo offer internships to students currently enrolled at:

• Texas A&M University
• Texas Tech University
• Alvin Community College
• University of Houston

Students attending these schools must receive authorization from the Internship Program Director in order to apply for this position.

Depending on the specific hiring area and the intern's skills set, job duties may include:

• Writing stories for the show's daily commercial exhibitors' newsletter, writing news releases for the livestock competitions, and the Houston Livestock Show website.
• Working in special-event public relations and education.
• Work in large-scale public animal exhibits and educational displays that include tours for school children.
• Handle daily animal care and feeding, answer questions about the animals from the public, and supervise animals at rodeo for disabled children.
• Work with livestock check in and departures, help in the show ring for livestock events, and handle clerical duties involved with the livestock show's functions.
• Serve as special event administrative assistant's in Show's offices.
• All interns may have additional duties as assigned in their areas.
