Job Description

Purpose and Scope:
The teaching faculty is responsible for providing learning activities and support that lead to course objectives and contribute to the educational environment. Primary responsibilities include planning, developing, and teaching courses in a manner that facilitates student learning.

Essential Job Functions
  • Teach mathematics courses at various times and locations.
  • Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of material.
  • Submit required college reports and forms timely.
  • Utilize course syllabus following institutional guidelines.
  • Meet with and advise students through appointments or electronic communication.
  • Evaluate students to measure progress toward course objectives and report progress in a timely manner.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and community.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
  • Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Mastery of course content.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills emphasizing collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with a wide variety of people.
  • Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies.

Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary with occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required.

Work Schedule and Conditions
  • Equipment: PC workstation (Windows), calculator, phone, general office equipment, and discipline‑specific equipment.
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed.
  • Work occurs in climate‑controlled classroom or lab environments with minimal safety hazards.
  • Hours vary by class time; instructors must be available outside of classes.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Mathematics or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Mathematics or Statistics.

Salary
: $55.44 per contact hour.
