Our programming serves more than 900,000 participants annually at the Museum, at the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center, and at 270+ outreach locations across Greater Houston.

We welcome families with offerings that include 13 exhibits, a performing arts series, a full slate of cultural programming, science activities led by degreed educators, and weekly Free Family Nights.

Summary:

The Children’s Museum Houston is committed to enriching early childhood learning and fostering family engagement through dynamic and inclusive educational programs in the community and at the Museum. The Part-time Welcome Baby Project Coordinator will play a central role in assembling and distributing of the Welcome Baby bags.

The Part-Time Welcome Baby Project Coordinator is responsible for organizing, ordering, and maintaining inventory of materials; preparing all items needed for assembly; and coordinating volunteers to ensure bags are efficiently and accurately put together. The coordinator will help ensure that each Welcome Baby bag—designed to encourage parents to talk, read, and play with their infants—contains all required items, including books, parent resources, and museum materials.

This position plays a key role in helping partner organizations such as schools, clinics, and community groups provide families with high‑quality, engagement‑focused resources for early childhood development. This is a temporary, part‑time position funded by a grant and is expected to conclude on or before June 30, 2026.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Organize, track, and maintain inventory of Welcome Baby bag materials, including ordering supplies and preparing items for assembly.
  • Coordinate and support volunteers during bag assembly, ensuring quality and efficiency.
  • Maintain organized storage of materials and completed bags.
  • Communicate with Welcome Baby partners to schedule deliveries and provide training if needed.
  • Coordinate with other museum departments to schedule and manage deliveries.
  • Document progress through each step of assembly and distribution, including an updated bag count, distributed and remaining, for reporting purposes.
  • Follow museum procedures for safety, storage, and volunteer engagement.
  • Attend planning and other meetings as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (written and spoken) required.
  • Required knowledge of Early Childhood development
  • Experience in Early Childhood Education.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience coordinating volunteers or small teams.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail‑oriented, flexible, and team player.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and other software as needed.
Education:

A degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred.

A minimum of three (3) years of project coordination experience in outreach is required.

Physical Requirements

Able to move around with agility, including walking or standing for extended periods of time.

Able to lift and carry lightweight objects up to 20 lbs., including boxes.

Able to push and pull carts and dollies as needed.

Able to comfortably bend, stoop, or climb ladders to retrieve or place materials on high shelves.

Other Requirements

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Ability to travel throughout the city and region to train individuals on Welcome Baby in a variety of settings.
