Overview
Graduate/Staff Geotechnical Engineer (Houston, TX) – Ninyo & Moore has an immediate opening for a Graduate (Staff) Geotechnical Engineer in Houston, TX. The successful candidate will perform project management duties, including conducting geotechnical investigations and analysis, and related responsibilities.
Responsibilities- Conduct geotechnical investigations and analysis, perform boring layout for utility clearance, supervise drill rigs, classify soils, log borings, test pits, and cores, perform floor level surveys, perform testing and observation services, review plans and specifications, and prepare geotechnical reports and letters.
- Coordinate assignment and compilation of laboratory testing and geotechnical calculations, including calculations pertaining to slope stability analysis, liquefaction, dynamic settlement, and pile design.
Education: B.S./B.A. required (Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Engineering); M.S. preferred.
Required Skills- Entry-level with up to 2 years of experience, preferably with a geotechnical consulting firm performing duties described above.
- Understanding and knowledge of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, positive attitude, good organizational skills, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
Desired: Knowledge of geotechnical engineering, soil classifications, and geotechnical analysis.
