Consultant - Fire and Life Safety Engineering
Location:
Houston, TX. Full‑time position at WSP.
WSP is seeking an experienced Fire Protection Engineer to lead fire protection and life safety strategies, ensuring compliance with building codes, industry standards, and best practices.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute state‑of‑the‑art fire protection and life safety systems.
- Provide expert technical guidance on fire alarm, sprinkler design, and compliance with industry standards and building codes.
- Lead continuous improvement in design methodologies and technology adoption.
- Serve as a mentor and ensure the highest quality of design, documentation, and calculation reviews.
- Collaborate with project managers and cross‑functional teams to deliver projects on schedule, meeting established standard of care.
- Maintain deep knowledge of industry best practices, codes, regulations, and emerging trends.
- Assist in building code consulting, helping clients and teams stay compliant with local, state, and national regulations.
- B.S. or M.S. in Fire Protection Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- 3–5 years of experience in fire protection and life safety engineering.
- Strong understanding of building and fire codes (IBC, NFPA, UFC, OBO, etc.).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Flexible schedule and ability to prioritize responsibilities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Proficiency with REVIT and/or AutoCAD (preferred).
- Experience with fire protection engineering design applications (preferred).

CompensationSalary range: $85,200 – $117,000 per year.
