Guardian Engineering Enterprises, LLC is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in either our Houston, TX, Chicago, IL, or Brooklyn, NY office.

This role offers a hybrid work schedule

The successful candidate will lead and execute structural engineering design work focused on AI infrastructure, data centers, mission-critical facilities, and industrial structures.

A Professional Engineer (PE) license and 8+ years of relevant experience are required.

• Lead comprehensive design and analysis of structural systems for AI infrastructure and data centers, including structural framing, foundations, equipment supports, and building enclosures for mission-critical facilities.

• Conduct detailed structural assessments of data center and industrial structures, including capacity evaluations, seismic analyses, loading studies, and integrity assessments to optimize performance.

• Prepare detailed technical reports summarizing analysis findings, recommendations, and cost estimates for structural improvements, retrofits, and new construction.

• Develop construction documents and specifications in accordance with applicable codes and standards (
  IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE 7) and client requirements.

• Design and specify structural systems for complex facilities, including steel and concrete framing, heavy equipment foundations, raised floor systems, and roof structures optimized for operational demands.

• Lead foundation design including deep foundations, mat foundations, and specialized supports for mission-critical infrastructure.

• Ensure compliance with all structural codes, seismic regulations, and design standards
  , maintaining focus on reliability and life safety requirements.

• Contribute to value engineering efforts
  , analyzing structural options, materials, and lifecycle costs to enhance performance and budget alignment.

• Support procurement activities including bid document preparation, addenda, and responses to contractor inquiries.

• Review submittals and RFIs during construction to ensure alignment with design intent, maintaining structural integrity and compliance.

• Conduct field observations and QA inspections during construction, documenting progress for steel erection, concrete placement, and foundation activities.

• Lead construction administration activities
  , including testing coordination, verification of design parameters, and phasing oversight to maintain operational continuity.

• Support client relationships through professional communication, mentor junior engineers, and manage estimates, schedules, and team collaboration for structural projects.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred) with 8+ years of experience in commercial, industrial, or mission-critical facility design.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

• Proven expertise in design, assessment, and construction oversight of structural systems, foundations, and building structures for complex and mission-critical facilities.

• Strong client-facing communication skills and proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP
  2000, ETABS, RISA, RAM Structural System, and STAAD.Pro.

• Proficiency in data center structural design
  , including heavy equipment loading, raised floors, vibration isolation, and high-density computing requirements.

• Experience with
  structural design for technology infrastructure
  , including rack systems, cable tray supports, seismic anchorage, and data center performance criteria.

• Expertise in steel and concrete design, foundation engineering, seismic design, and lateral-force resisting systems.

• Advanced knowledge of finite element modeling and complex structural system analysis for industrial and mission-critical applications.

• Proven ability to resolve complex problems
  , lead teams through technical challenges, and prioritize risk-based design solutions.

• Ability to communicate technical requirements clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
