JOB TITLE: Project Engineer

Metal bar grating has many applications but is primarily used as an industrial product because of its high strength, relative light weight, and design that allows for light flow and ventilation. See for more details.
Responsible for review of Structural design inputs, identify scope of work, preparing detail grating fabrication drawings. Upon project award, perform Detailing, drafting, 3D Modeling & checking as applicable for the Project. Partner with Sales & Operations team as necessary to ensure projects are completed within budget and in agreed schedule.
Primary Responsibilities- Act as primary interface with customer during the engineering / detailing phase of the project.
- Review contract documents, establish scope of items along with any applicable exclusions.
- Provides or coordinates scope changes to sales and customer.
- Performs detailed material take-off, include fabrication work involved such as welding, etc.
- Obtain clarifications from customers as needed for clarifying scope items.
- Participate in project kick-off meetings as required.
- Coordinate with customers to establish sequencing and priority of deliverables.
- Develops or manages requests for information (RFI’s).
- Coordinate customer provided structural 3D models for applicable items.
- 3D & 2D modeling, drafting, and checking of drawings.
- Ensure timely completion of tasks and deliverables in alignment with project schedules.
- Resolves issues or involves appropriate departments for resolution.
- Reviews for contract additions and deletions, prepare change orders for applicable items.
- Checks project status upon receipt of changes and evaluates impact.
- Collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Coordinate with inside / outside detailing groups where required.
- Resolves issues or involves appropriate departments for resolution.
- Occasional short-term travel may be necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support project and departmental needs.
A. Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Industrial or Construction Engineering or Management, preferable.
- 3+ yrs. of experience in Estimating & Detailing of Structural Steel & miscellaneous steel detailing for commercial or industrial construction projects, preferable.

Requirements Other requirements- Knowledge in 2D & 3D Cad software.
- Excellent Interpersonal Skills.
- Excellent Technical Skills.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Must have customer-oriented approach to business situations.
- Reading and understanding structural steel design drawings / models.
- Detailing and 3D Modeling of Grating in CAD environment.
- Managing projects, drawings and project schedules.
- All work to be performed following the guidelines of applicable building codes, AISC, NISD standard practices.
A. Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Industrial or Construction Engineering.
- Understanding of general construction and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge in AWS D1.1 welding practices, OSHA safety standards, required.
- Experienced reading Structural design drawings & specifications.
- Working knowledge in 3D modeling and BIM process.
- Experience in 3D modeling of Structural steel and Misc steel with Tekla structures software, preferable.
- Computer – Microsoft Office.
- Mathematical skills.
