Bridge Project Engineer

We are currently searching for an experienced Bridge Project Engineer to support our Southwest Region located in Texas
.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, 6 years of engineering experience in bridge design.

• Perform/supervise calculations and analysis for designing bridge and transportation structures using various bridge design software programs
• Perform/supervise load ratings on bridges of various type size and complexity
• Review calculations and design details developed by others
• Attend meeting with clients and other professionals and organizations
• Develop solutions to challenges presented by the client within budget, schedule, and project constraints
• Review construction related submittals
• Organize and maintain project files
• Supervising and mentoring Structural EITs and Interns
• Assist with marketing bridge and structure design work

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Master of Engineering preferred, but not required
• Valid Professional Engineering Licensure (P.E.)
• 6 to 9 years of engineering experience in bridge design
• TxDOT experience is strongly preferred
• Skilled in the use of Open Bridge Designer
• Technical expertise for the layout & design of bridges and related highway structures
• Familiarity with rehabilitation of existing bridges and highway structures
• Knowledge of AASHTO and other pertinent bridge design specifications
• Familiarity of TxDOT bridge standards and design manuals is strongly preferred
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
• If applicable to the position, a post offer fit for duty evaluation to ensure the individual can safely perform the essential functions of the role
• Valid driver's license
• A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
