Technical Service Engineer

Overview

Growing plastics company with multiple plant locations has an outstanding opportunity available for a Technical Service Engineer. We seek a Technical Services Engineer to lead service efforts and support sales growth of existing and new products in the polyolefins conversion industry, in particular in flexible and rigid packaging.

The Technical Services Representative is responsible for responding to technical inquiries from the customer, leading customer trials and qualifications, and coordinating product development and support work with the research and development team. The TSR works in tandem with the Market Manager-Flexible Packaging, VP Sales, and Regional Sales Managers (RSM) to provide technical support to existing and new customers. The TSR is responsible for visiting customers to provide technical support, coordinating and performing follow up analysis, supporting product development, preparing technical reports and product samples, and presenting technical analysis.

This position acts as the primary technical resource for flexible packaging and rigid markets for the US South and US South-East sales territories.

• A Bachelor or Master’s degree in chemical, materials, polymer or packaging engineering or science or equivalent field experience.
• A combination of product development, technical service or processing experience in polyolefin flexible packaging is required. Should have in-depth knowledge of customers conversion processes (blown and cast film extrusion) including industry standards, testing requirements, qualifications procedures, formulations, film structures and performance properties of the materials. Experience with thermoplastics, polyethylene, polypropylene, HDPE, LLDPE, or polymers is preferred.
• Minimum of 5-7 years technical experience specifically in flexible packaging at a film converter, and/or materials and equipment suppliers.
• Exceptional knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling technical products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
