AI is seeking an experienced Research Engineer to join our cutting-edge AI team in Houston Texas. In this role, you will help tackle some of the most critical challenges shaping the future of global energy by combining deep domain expertise with advanced machine learning. Job Role Includes:
Working on intellectually challenging, high-impact problems at the frontier of AI for energy.
Conducting reservoir simulation and Field Development Plan (FDP) optimization, including assisted history matching.
Running software pilots and supporting B2B oil & gas clients using commercial reservoir simulation tools such as Intersect, Eclipse, and t-NAV.
Using geoscience software (Petrel) and performing Python-based analyses and experiments (Pandas, Num Py, Matplotlib).
Collaborating with domain experts to advance research initiatives, with opportunities to publish and patent.
Contributing to one of the most promising AI startups in the energy sector as we expand rapidly.

What We Expect From You:5+ years of experience in Reservoir Engineering, with a strong track record of influencing field development and production performance.
2+ years of hands-on Python experience using scientific libraries such as Pandas, Num Py, and Matplotlib to analyze complex engineering datasets.
2+ years of designing and running Python-based experimental workflows, including scripting, data processing, and results interpretation.
3+ years of running reservoir simulations and driving FDP (Field Development Plan) optimization to unlock incremental value from assets.
Experience applying assisted history-match optimization techniques to improve model quality and decision confidence.
3+ years working with commercial reservoir simulators (e.g., Intersect, Eclipse, tNavigator) to support forecasting and scenario analysis.
3+ years using geoscience software such as Petrel/Petrel REto integrate static and dynamic data into consistent subsurface models.
3+ years executing software pilots, from scoping and test design through deployment and post-mortem review.
3+ years providing high-quality B2B software support to oil and gas clients, including troubleshooting, training, and best-practice guidance.
Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:
MSc or equivalent practical experience
Preferred QualificationsPublished work in AI applications for the oil and gas industry
Strong understanding of artificial intelligence concepts and methods
Proficiency in English
Proficiency in Spanish
Experience reading and writing reservoir simulator files using Python
