Consultant - Geotechnical Engineering | Texas Market Specialist | LVI AssociatesOne of the most reputable companies within the industry is seeking a Forensic Geotechnical Engineer with strong technical depth in soil behaviour and subsurface engineering. The position suits someone with a solid geotechnical design background who now wants to apply that expertise to investigations and expert evaluations.
In this role you will examine how ground conditions, engineering assumptions, and construction practices have influenced the performance of foundations, retaining structures, earthworks, pavements, and other systems. You will assess completed designs, review site conditions, and evaluate construction activities to determine causes of failure or dispute. The work covers a wide range of issues including soil movement, settlement, slope instability, erosion, moisture related problems, and quality control concerns.
Responsibilities- Carry out site investigations and subsurface evaluations across residential, commercial, and infrastructure project.
- Review design documents and construction records to assess geotechnical assumptions and compliance with accepted practice
- Analyse performance issues such as settlement, heave, erosion, vibration related damage, pavement failure, and slope instability
- Develop geotechnical opinions and remediation approaches that may include underpinning, micropiles, grout injection, and other methods
- Prepare written reports used for claims, disputes, and expert witness proceedings
- Provide clear, defensible testimony when required
- Professional Engineer licence in PE
- Ability to obtain further state licences when needed
- Strong background in geotechnical design and advanced analysis
- Experience preparing forensic reports preferable
- Experience with foundations for tall structures beneficial
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to travel within Texas and potentially across the region
