Overview
Field Service Engineers
- Mechanical at Baker Hughes. Mechanical Field Service Engineer role with BRUSH Power Generation, focusing on servicing generators, motors, and related equipment.
- Provide mechanical repair services to customers operating a wide range of original equipment, including generators, motors, and ancillary systems.
- Strip down and rebuild large generators and related equipment; fault find, overhaul, clean and recommission as necessary.
- Install and commission large turbo driven generators, sync condensers, and motors (up to ~200 tons) on prepared foundations.
- Carry out mechanical alignment checks, basic electrical tests and adjustments to machines and complex shaft systems using mechanical, optical and laser-based systems and related test equipment.
- Interpret specifications and technical requirements; prepare method statements and detailed reports for customers; attend technical meetings on site.
- Undergo training to assist winding specialists with in-situ winding repairs/rewinds as needed.
- Supervise and train customers’ site personnel; conduct on-site risk assessments for each assignment and document details on the provided form.
- Technical degree from an accredited school and 3+ years of field service experience.
- Competence with tooling such as hydraulic tensioners, hydraulic rams, basic hand tools, pneumatic impact drivers, multimeters, megger, rigging, generator special tooling, calipers, and precision measurement equipment.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally ~75–85% of the time or as needed.
- Flexible working patterns available; example: working flexible hours from the Houston area.
