The Houston‑Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million residents. We are the pulse of our region, addressing issues that cross city limits and county lines every single day.

• Lead subregional plans and studies that improve mobility, safety, multimodal connections, and economic development throughout the region, including mobility plans, corridor studies, and thoroughfare plans.
• Organize public meetings and coordinate with sponsors to gain broad stakeholder and community input and support for recommendations.
• Assist with educating regional partners about H‑GAC’s subregional planning services and identify opportunities for new projects.
• Present to the Board of Directors, Transportation Policy Council (TPC), Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC), and TAC subcommittees on a periodic basis.
• Use ArcGIS/Arc Pro, Microsoft, Adobe tools.

• Experience managing transportation planning studies, including scope development, contract negotiation, data analysis, community engagement, consulting team management, and invoice/review of reports.
• Experience developing and/or managing project budgets.
• Ability to collaborate with an internal planning team and regional partners passionate about improving quality of life in the Houston‑Galveston region.
• Strong project‑management, communication, and presentation skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study.
• 5 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, schools, or related duties.

• Experience in urban, regional or transportation planning, monitoring, and reporting.
• Thorough knowledge of transportation and land use planning, policies, regulations, and best practices.
• Experience developing and/or implementing local transportation plans, including but not limited to city or county plans.
• Ability to plan and manage complex, long‑term projects.
