The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, qualifying, and maintaining welding procedures for valve repair, overlay/cladding, and new manufacture in accordance with ASME Section IX, API 6A, API 6D, NACE, and customer-specific requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and qualify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).

  • Perform weld engineering support for hard-facing and corrosion-resistant overlay (CRA) applications (Inconel 625, Stellite 6/21, Ultimet, etc.).
  • Review and approve weld repair plans, heat treatment procedures, and non-destructive examination (NDE) requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance to welders, supervisors, and QC personnel on the shop floor.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for welding-related defects and non-conformances.
  • Support ASME, API, and ISO certification audits and maintain welding documentation library.
  • Collaborate with metallurgists, quality engineers, and project managers on new projects and customer approvals.
  • Stay current with industry codes, standards, and emerging welding technologies.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of hands‑on welding engineering experience in valve, pressure vessel, piping, or oilfield equipment manufacturing/repair.
  • Thorough knowledge of ASME Section IX, ASME B31.3, API 6A, API 582, NACE MR0175/ISO 15156, and DNV-OS-F101.
  • Experience qualifying procedures for automated and manual welding processes, including hot‑wire GTAW and laser cladding strongly preferred.
  • Proficient with welding metallurgy of high‑alloy and nickel‑base materials.
  • Strong background in NDE methods (RT, UT, PT, MT) and interpretation of results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current or previous CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certification.
  • Experience with robotic/automated welding systems and weld overlay software (e.g., AMS, Polysoude, Arc Machines).
  • Familiarity with valve‑specific standards (API 6D, API 598, ASME B16.34).
  • Previous work in a repair/modification shop environment.
