Who We Are: Met Ox is a Houston–based startup transforming the future of energy and computing through advanced high–temperature superconducting (HTS) tape. We are scaling up production of next–generation superconducting wire using metal–organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD), physical vapor deposition (PVD), and electrochemistry. Our work spans the frontiers of materials science, plasma physics, thin–film engineering, and process automation all grounded in deep first–principles thinking.

We’re not just building better materials. We’re building the backbone of the next energy revolution.

About the Event: The Met Ox Futures Invitational is an application–only, invitation–only on–site event for exceptional PhD and Master’s candidates ready to turn research into impact.

Dates:
January 13-14 at our Met Ox facility in Houston, TX

During this all‘expenses‘-paid experience at our Houston headquarters, you’ll:

  • Tour our facility and advanced MOCVD production lines
  • Present your thesis or capstone work to Met Ox scientists and engineers
  • Interview for full–time roles in R&D, process, and equipment engineering
  • Engage with our leadership team driving the future of HTS manufacturing
  • Network with other elite researchers from top programs across the country

This is not a career fair. It’s a selective technical summit where discovery meets opportunity.

Who You Are: You’re a newly minted (or soon–to–be) PhD or MS with hands–on experience in thin–film deposition using MOCVD, PVD, or related techniques. You excel in environments where hardware, process, and material properties are deeply interconnected, and your research mindset thrives on solving real production challenges.

Your expertise may span process engineering, plasma and thermal chemistry, or equipment and hardware design, but your strength lies in connecting across those domains to bring superconductivity to scale.

Your Working Style:

  • Grounded in first–principles problem solving.
  • Fueled by curiosity and experimentation.
  • Naturally cross–disciplinary: chemistry + physics + engineering.
  • Energized by a startup mindset. Iterate fast, learn faster, own your outcomes.
  • You understand that controlling variation is often harder, and more powerful, than the invention itself.
