Job DescriptionLocation:
Houston, TX. AECOM is seeking a Structural Engineer to support maritime projects, including container terminals, mining/bulk facilities, oil/gas terminals, marinas, ports and harbors, coastal defense, and development schemes.
- Undertake design and planning activities for maritime projects such as wharves, piles, sheet piles, bulkheads, and dolphins.
- Apply maritime codes and standards including USACE, PIANC, and OCIMF.
- Prepare engineering calculations and develop structural technical specifications, plans, and details independently.
- Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established procedures.
- Provide guidance to entry‑level engineers.
- Perform work in accordance with agreed budgets and schedules under moderate supervision.
- Coordinate with other in‑house engineering disciplines as needed.
- Conduct condition assessments and perform site visits; occasional short‑ to medium‑term visits may be required based on project needs.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- 2 years of relevant experience or proof of equivalent experience and education.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Master of Science (with a concentration in structural engineering).
- Professional Engineering (PE) License.
- Five or more years of related experience.
- Experience designing marine structures in seismic zones.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of structural analysis software such as SAP 2000, RISA 3D, and STAAD.Pro.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Micro Station.
- Strong computer skills for calculations, spreadsheets, and report writing.
- Demonstrable interest in a career in Ports & Marine Engineering.
- Enthusiastic, hard‑working, and driven.
- This position does not include sponsorship for U.S. work authorization.
Offered compensation is based on education, qualifications, experience, and location and ranges from $63,000 to $116,000 annually.
