Lead Designer (Control Systems Designer)
Location:
Houston, TX (Hybrid) Pay Range: $70/hr - $80/hr Base Pay Range
$70.00/hr - $80.00/hr
About the Role:- We are seeking a Lead Designer in the Telecom sector to join our team on a part-time telework basis.
- This role involves planning, developing, and reviewing control systems design work, producing drawings and documentation, and preparing design estimates for projects.
- You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and ensure compliance with all regulations and standards.
- This position requires at least three day of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project.
- Plan and conduct independent telecommunications work, applying engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria for medium-sized projects.
- Lead the design, development, modification, and evaluation of telecommunication components and processes.
- Communicate complex technical issues and recommend solutions to upper management.
- Develop conceptual designs for telecommunications projects with specialized or unique requirements.
- Support the preparation of estimates, staffing needs, and schedules.
- Interpret new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data.
- Coordinate with client representatives to obtain approval of telecommunications aspects of the work.
- Conduct or lead special studies of new telecommunications engineering methods, materials, and techniques.
- Mentor telecommunications engineering personnel and provide on-the-job training for their professional development.
- Participate in special technical educational and training programs as directed.
- RCDD certification preferred.
- Strong judgment and decision‑making skill in telecommunications engineering.
- Proficiency in using Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards, and (BSAPs).
- Excellent communication skill to convey complex technical issues.
- Ability to develop and interpret conceptual designs and technical documentation.
- Experience in mentoring and training engineering personnel.
