Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Industrial Engineer Co-op with a strong focus on Environmental Health and Safety (EHS). This role will play a critical part in enhancing workplace safety, standardizing production processes, and supporting data-driven decision-making for capital investments. The ideal candidate will have a background in manufacturing engineering and a passion for creating safe, efficient, and sustainable work environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Assessment & Safety Analysis:
    Evaluate all critical production processes to identify potential safety and environmental risks; develop and implement Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for key tasks and operations; recommend and support implementation of process improvements.
  • Documentation & Standardization:
    Create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all critical production activities; ensure documentation aligns with regulatory requirements and internal safety standards.
  • Training Program Development:
    Design a comprehensive new hire training program for production roles, emphasizing safety, quality, and operational efficiency; develop a training matrix to track employee training status.
  • Data Collection & Capital Planning Support:
    Assist in gathering and analyzing production and safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement; support justification and prioritization of capital investments through data-driven insights and cost-benefit analysis.
Qualifications
  • Recent graduate or senior-level engineering student in Industrial Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field.
  • Working experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with EHS responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with data analysis tools is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills. Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing training programs and safety documentation.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 or similar environmental management systems.
