Bridge Engineer – Responsibilities- Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques for bridge and box culvert, sign structures, retaining walls, and interchange design for highway and railway projects.
- Select standard bridge engineering/design procedures, develop structural details using specialized structural design and analysis software, and perform structural load calculations.
- Review, assign work and/or check design calculations, estimates, and specifications produced by junior engineers and EITs.
- Participate in bridge inspection.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in bridge design.
- Familiarity with TxDOT bridge design manuals, guidance, bridge standards, preferred practices, and software.
- Experience using Micro Station, Open Roads Designer, Open Bridge Modeler, Projectwise, MathCAD, Bluebeam.
- Familiarity with engineering software packages such as BGS, SPColumn, Bridge Link.
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering.
- Previous experience in bridge design.
- Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., Professional Engineer/PE).
- Knowledge of Bluebeam Revu and engineering software packages such as LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB‑Multi Pier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, MDX, SAP
2000, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, sp Column, STLBridge
LRFD, or STLBridge. - Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Micro Station, AutoCAD, MathCAD, LARSA, and prestress concrete design.
- Experience managing junior staff.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
