Principal Accountabilities
  • Ensure that development plans consistently meet forecast expectations and deliver a strong economic outcome.
  • Timely preparation of quarterly production volume forecasts to support economics for asset development.
  • Lead reservoir engineering activities to assess, analyze, and optimize the performance of oil and gas reservoirs.
  • Conduct reservoir simulation and modeling studies to predict reservoir behavior, production rates, and performance over time.
  • Prepare reservoir engineering contributions for drilling and workover proposals.
  • Develop and implement reservoir management strategies aimed at optimizing recovery, reducing costs, and enhancing production efficiency.
  • Design and optimize field development plans, including drilling programs, well completion strategies, and production forecasting.
  • Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, petrophysicists and production technologists to ensure integrated solutions for reservoir optimization and field development.
  • Perform reserve and resources estimation and reporting in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Monitor and evaluate ongoing reservoir performance, identifying opportunities for optimization or intervention.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in reservoir engineering.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and analyses to communicate findings and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and performance summaries for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Foster collaboration between the Subsurface team and other departments (e.g., Facilities, Well Engineering, operations) to ensure that all aspects of reservoir development and optimization are implemented.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and reservoir engineering teams.
  • Lead reservoir engineering initiatives, ensuring adherence to best practices and high-quality standards.
  • Develop own succession to allow further move to Asset Lead and/or Commercial roles.
  • Assist in preparing and managing the reservoir engineering portion of the field development or project budget, including costs related to software, as well as well testing and data acquisition.
  • Evaluate opportunities to optimize costs in reservoir engineering operations, such as more efficient modeling techniques, using less expensive software tools, or optimizing data acquisition and processing efforts.
  • Perform cost‑benefit analysis and economic evaluation of various reservoir management strategies, including well placements, enhanced oil recovery (EOR) methods, and new field development plans. Provide recommendations based on maximizing net present value (NPV) and internal rate of return (IRR).
  • Evaluate and recommend the most cost‑effective reservoir development strategies, taking into account the expected production rates, capital costs, operating costs, and potential risks.
  • Evaluate potential investments in reservoir‑related projects, assessing the financial returns and risks associated with exploration, development, and production activities.
  • Perform all other duties that are necessary and reasonably attached to this Reservoir Engineer position and the fulfillment of its responsibilities.
  • Any other responsibilities as assigned by the OPL 310 Asset Lead.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering, chemical engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Post‑graduate degree in a related discipline is an advantage.
  • Certification of related courses.
Experience
  • A minimum of 6‑10 years of experience in reservoir engineering in a major international oil and gas company.
  • Showcase technical contributions in Petroleum and Reservoir Engineering through publications and mentoring programs.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
  • Extensive experience working in a variety of reservoir environments (e.g., conventional, unconventional, offshore, mature field).
  • Hands‑on expertise in reservoir simulation and modeling to predict long‑term reservoir behavior, production rates, and performance forecasting.
