We combine the challenges of a large globally operating organisation with a change-positive attitude and entrepreneurial spirit. Personal development and responsibility take centre stage wing Ampelmann means growing you.

About the OCC Department

The Operations Control Centre (OCC) is part of our Operations department. This department is responsible for ensuring that our global operations run safely and efficiently. The OCC team provides 24/7 support, ensuring that all operations in the area are conducted safely and satisfy our clients. The OCC team consists of two sub teams:
Emergency support (First line support team) and the Field Control Engineering team. In this role, you will be part of the first line support sub‑team, working together with 5 Operations Support Engineers based in the Netherlands, 3 in Brunei and 1 in the USA. You will report to one of the two Senior Team Leads.

Your Role as Jr. Operations Support Engineer

As a Jr. Operations Support Engineer, you are responsible for supporting our operations offshore by preventing and reducing downtime of our fleet of motion compensated gangway systems to a minimum. You will work in shift rotations that take place 24/7 (day, evening, night and/or weekends) to ensure that we can provide our services every minute of every day to our clients.

During these shifts, you will be the first point of contact for our colleagues and clients in case of emergencies. You will take the lead over all decision making and solve the situation in a safe manner.

In case one of our systems is not operational, you will remotely solve any issue that occurs. Before solving issues, you will be trained extensively by your Operations Support colleagues. You will also modify existing software packages and deploy upgrades on our Ampelmann systems worldwide, both on‑ and (sometimes) offshore.

Regular Activities
  • Supervising troubleshooting by instructing offshore personnel, monitoring the work safety and informing internal and external clients about downtime status.
  • Minimising downtime by identifying challenges and formulating possible solutions.
  • Liaising with other departments to successfully solve operational and technical challenges.
  • Conducting project meetings and preparing regular reports to communicate project status to your stakeholders.
  • Providing support in maintaining and upgrading our systems and software (onshore and at times offshore).
  • Continuously training/keeping yourself updated regarding the Ampelmann technology.
We Ask
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering or similar.
  • 0‑3 years relevant working experience.
  • Knowledge or genuine interest in hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of PLC control systems (preferably Siemens S7 or TIA).
  • Flexibility and pro‑activity: willingness to work on weekends and evenings.
  • An independent, responsible and accountable attitude as your direct manager is located outside of the US.
  • Excellent communications skills in English.
  • A great work environment with innovative and change‑willing aspirations.
  • High degree of responsibility and room to have significant impact.
  • Monthly gross salary between USD 4,691 – USD 6,702 based on experience.
