Position Summary The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is accountable for supplier product & service supply compliance to all applicable engineering, manufacturing, and quality system specifications.

Reports To: Engineering Manager

Work Location: 8310 McHard Road, Houston, TX 77053; 2001 Proenergy Blvd., Sedalia, MO 65301; or Remote (United States).

Position Responsibilities

  • Perform supplier pre‑approval audits.
  • Supplier development and tracking of Quarterly Scorecards for the Preferred Supplier List.
  • Establish, maintain, and update critical supplier audit system and schedule.
  • Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor supplier compliance with the Supplier Quality System.
  • Travel to supplier locations to inspect product quality processes and conduct quality reviews.
  • Facilitate communication and interpretation of engineering and manufacturing specifications with supplier technical teams.
  • Manage implementation of product and service specification changes.
  • Ensure suppliers change control compliance with engineering standard.
  • Work with Supply Chain Management (SCM) to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented.
  • Establish, monitor, communicate and improve key supply chain key performance indicators (KPI’s).
  • Utilize problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non‑conformances.
  • Liaise with Engineering, Quality and SCM on quality related matters to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Assist Engineering, Quality and SCM in the evaluation and qualification of new supplier materials.
  • Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects.
  • Develop long‑term supplier relationships and generate and implement cost reduction ideas.
  • Member of Internal Audit Team.
  • This position requires ability to travel domestically and internationally more than 50%.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years supplier quality engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working within an ISO 9001 approved quality management system.
  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment; candidates requiring visa sponsorship will not be considered.
  • Successful candidate must satisfactorily complete a pre‑employment drug screen and background check.

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and co‑workers.
  • FDA/ISO/TS quality system knowledge and experience (any or all).
  • ASQ certified Quality Auditor and/or Quality Engineer highly desirable.
  • Technical competence and understanding of engineered products, services, manufacturing and business processes, and systems.
  • Knowledge and experience in control plan development, product print and specification understanding.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems in a logical and effective manner.
  • Knowledge of lean six sigma tools.
  • Strong measurement skills, including hands‑on experience with calipers, micrometers, tool scopes, optical comparators and vision system.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform research, compile and analyze data, and write clear, concise and accurate reports on complex subjects.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in business letter and report preparation.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite and a variety of general office equipment.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple job assignments in a fast‑paced work environment.
