Overview

The Process Engineer provides technical expertise and support focused on improving safety, reliability, and profitability on assigned process units in the refinery.

The role regularly collaborates with operations, commercial planning, process control, maintenance, and other technical departments.

Responsibilities
  • Design engineering solutions and the associated validation process to enable the realization of a design brief that conforms to organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Analyze information and specify methods and process steps, as well as plant, machinery, and equipment required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems to deliver the end product within specified cost and quality parameters.
  • Support technical troubleshooting projects and process operations, aiding in the quick and accurate identification, analysis, and resolution of technical issues with equipment and experiments.
  • Conduct research using primary data sources and select information needed for analysis of key themes and trends, including yields and reliability metrics.
  • Participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) activities such as MOC, PHA, and LOPA to support refinery goals around action item closure.
  • Maintain key process safety information including P&IDs, PFDs, and Heat and Material Balances.
  • Provide process and technical support for major turnarounds, maintenance projects, and unit shutdown/startups on a shift schedule.
  • Demonstrate commitment to workplace safety and the health of employees and contractors.
Qualifications
  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Engineering discipline.
  • 7 or more months of experience in an Engineering role in the energy industry or related industry.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 or more years of experience as a Process Engineer in the oil and gas industry.
  • 3 or more years of experience with process simulation software (e.g., HYSYS, Pro II, Aspen Plus).
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of process safety management fundamentals and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of process equipment design (towers, heat exchangers, valves, pumps, etc.).
