ResponsibilitiesIn this position, the qualified individual will design repairs for existing enclosure systems. They will review enclosure systems for new construction, renovation, and restoration projects. The individual will investigate and determine the service life of building enclosure assemblies. They will assess air infiltration, rainwater control, heat transfer, and vapor transmission through enclosure reviews. Additionally, they will perform building performance analyses, including evaluating day lighting, solar heat gain, thermal energy transfer, and the holistic integration of the enclosure with building mechanical, lighting, and plumbing systems.
Requirements include a sound technical background, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in CADD and building performance modeling software.
Key Responsibilities- Lead projects with a team of internal consultants.
- Assist Senior Project Managers with project tasks.
- Perform project management duties.
- Facilitate client meetings and prepare technical presentations.
- Develop proposals for new projects.
- Review enclosure details and specifications.
- Collaborate with architects and contractors to develop high-performance details.
- Research building codes and standards.
- Write assessment reports and perform field investigations.
- Model enclosure assemblies using relevant software.
- Analyze repair and design options, draft repair drawings, and prepare construction documents.
- Oversee construction and installation, perform quality assurance testing, and prepare reports and meeting minutes.
- Interact with clients, sub-consultants, and contractors.
- 3-10+ years in building enclosure design, review, and assessment.
- PE or RA certification.
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Architecture with specialization in Building Science/Enclosures/Historic Preservation.
- Additional certifications like RRO/RRC/RWC are a plus.
- Experience with exterior wall, waterproofing, and roofing assemblies.
- Knowledge of building science, thermal analysis, and building performance modeling.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper).
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with building performance modeling software (e.g., ENERGY PLUS, THERM, WUFI).
- Expertise in exterior wall systems and roofing assemblies.
- Familiarity with structural systems and working at heights.
