In order to make and cultivate relationships, training on-site full time is required. Hybrid flex policy is available thereafter.
- Review and applicability of road and waterway city and county code requirements.
- Evaluate grading and drainage, storm water conveyance, treatment and attenuation systems, potable, fire and sewer systems, erosion control, pedestrian ingress/egress ways and ADA accessibility, vehicular traffic ingress/egress, turn lane design including curb and gutter, paved shoulder, marking, and signing plans, maintenance of traffic plans, and asphalt pavement mix designs.
- Determine the cause, origin, and extent of structural building system failures, water intrusions, roof damage, settlement damage, construction defects and building system failures including envelope, roof, wall and glazing.
- Assignments may include foundation settlement investigations, structural assessments, site evaluations, sub-surface investigations and vibration analysis.
- Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients.
- Responsible for retention and development of client relations.
- Prepare oral and written reports in layman's terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation.
- Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups.
- Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- P.E. Registration required through testing.
- Minimum of five (5) years of post-academic civil roadway experience.
- Roadway design/ construction and maintenance of traffic experience.
- Illinois S.E. (Structural Engineer) a plus.
- Must possess strong writing skills.
- Public speaking experience a plus.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders and inspect roofs.
- Ability to maneuver in and around buildings and in confined spaces.
- Ability to drive to site locations.
