We are currently looking for a Lead Specialist, Planning and Scheduling to work in Houston, TX, for a major LNG client on an initial 1-year assignment likely to be extended.

Position Overview

This Lead Specialist in Engineering & Construction is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and overseeing the engineering & construction project’s schedules, providing technical support during the early Project Development and Execution phases of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Development, Pipelines, Gas Compression Facility, Gas Metering Station, and similar projects. Under the guidance of the Senior Director, Engineering & Construction Project Services, the Lead Specialist assists in monitoring and forecasting integrated engineering and construction schedules, reviewing contractors’ schedule updates, performing project engineering schedule risk assessments & benchmarking, and ensuring schedules’ quality during any project stage.

Responsibilities include developing engineering & construction schedules (timelines) for reporting, generating what‑if scenarios, evaluating feasibilities & concept studies during front end engineering design (FEED), compiling and inputting detailed schedule information in computer software during Execution stage, and providing support at the client’s Houston offices and possibly at contractor sites.

  • Supports the development, implementation, and adherence to Planning & Scheduling best practices, procedures, and guidelines for client projects’ schedules.
  • Provide EPC schedules to ensure proper estimates and studies within each project stage and for final investment decision.
  • Participate in contractor’s technical schedules kick‑off meetings to establish deliverables, WBS, basis of schedule deliverable, reports, detail of schedule alignment, and review timeline.
  • Maintain engagement with contractor’s Construction Planning & Scheduling Engineers during EPC schedule development to ensure completeness and technical accuracy.
  • Assess project progress against plan to advise leadership on appropriate action and evaluate critical path(s).
  • Prepare look‑ahead reports to ensure readiness for progression.
  • Develop interface schedules across engineering, procurement, and construction scopes.
  • Recommend project direction and technical scope, verify activity identification, and support setting up project WBS.
  • Comprehend EPC coding structures on projects.
  • Develop and update EPC schedule benchmarks.
  • Implement technical project risk assessment and EPC planning & scheduling standards that conform to corporate requirements and best practices.
  • Develop and validate EPC schedules for client Business Development, Operations & Maintenance, or Engineering & Construction teams.
  • Execute assessment of EPC schedule risks and determine contingencies.
  • Apply engineering & construction risk management standards, updating the project risk register.
  • Assist with validation of EPC Contractor’s Change Orders impacting the schedule.
  • Influence Projects Services process to enable accurate data collection and enhance schedule performance.
  • Review and confirm adequacy of EPC Contractor's Project Execution Plan vis‑à‑vis schedule.
  • Produce monthly/weekly EPC project status reports for Senior Director, Engineering & Construction Project Services.
  • Support development of internal management & technical Board presentations.
