Airswift is recruiting a Senior Electrical Engineer for a 12‑month contract in Houston, TX with benefits.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Electrical Engineer will oversee and manage the electrical and controls design of expansion and maintenance capital projects executed by third‑party engineering firms.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring compliance with company standards, specifications, and industry standards within project budgets and schedules.
  • Liaising with Project Execution, Operations, and Shared Services to incorporate project and company requirements into deliverables.
  • Overseeing development of project scope, schedule, capital cost estimate, execution planning, risks, and supporting information.
  • Managing execution of design deliverables by third‑party firms against budget and schedule.
  • Reviewing and approving design deliverables such as drawings, technical reports, and material listing sheets.
  • Reviewing vendor quotations, preparing technical evaluations, and recommending selections based on technical merit, price, and delivery.
  • Providing technical support during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Reviewing lessons learned from past projects and incorporating recommendations into future designs.
  • Providing technical guidance to junior engineers and supporting department initiatives.
  • Ensuring project scopes comply with regulatory, environmental, health, and safety requirements through effective coordination of internal functional groups.
Specific Accountabilities
  • Design large horsepower (10,000‑30,000 HP) turbine and electrical motor‑driven centrifugal compressor stations.
  • Design industrial systems in Hazardous Classified Areas to meet NEC requirements.
  • Knowledge of: 120/208 V systems, 480 V systems, 4160 V systems, transformers, auto transfer switches, generators, cable & conduit sizing, motor controls, PLC and Op‑Panel systems, instrumentations (analog & smart transmitters, pressure/differential pressure/temperature/level transmitters, RTDs, thermocouples, flame/gas detectors), PID loop controllers, emergency shutdown systems, valve actuators (electric & pneumatic), cathodic protection, grounding systems.
Scope & Dimensions
  • Responsible for successful operations of the assigned area with significant financial impact.
  • Oversees development/implementation of technical solutions, coordinating technical resources and stakeholders.
  • Provides informal leadership to peers.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible engineering and project management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer designation.
  • Innovative, initiates and manages change.
  • Works independently, manages multiple projects, prioritizes tasks.
  • Resolves complex issues based on technical and business knowledge.
  • Awareness of stakeholder interrelationships.
  • Effective communication of technical issues to technical and non‑technical staff.
