We are looking for a skilled Stationary Engineer to operate and maintain utility-related building systems, including chilled water, steam, compressed air, vacuum, and heating hot water. This role involves monitoring system performance, conducting repairs, and executing preventive maintenance to ensure optimal functionality and reliability of all utility equipment.

Research and Administrative Facilities (RAF) was established to meet the specialized needs of MD Anderson researchers, administration faculty, and staff. Operations and Maintenance provides building support to all research and administrative areas. Core products include: preventative maintenance, minor repairs, emergency response.

Ideal candidate will hold a First or Second Grade Licensed Stationary Engineer as issued by the City of Houston, at least a Third Grade boiler license is required.

Work Schedule:

Thursday & Friday, 10:30pm-7am, Saturday & Sunday, 6:30pm-7am

Salary Range: $57,500 - $72,000 - $86,500

SUMMARY

Primary purpose of the Stationary Engineer position is to provide skilled work in operation of utility related building systems (includes chilled water, steam, compressed air, vacuum, heating hot water, etc.). Monitor, maintain, repair and perform preventive maintenance on all utility related building equipment and systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Operate and optimize use of natural resources (electricity, natural gas, domestic water, sewer, etc.) on all central utility generated services that impact building equipment and systems. Use building automation system (BAS) to monitor all central plant equipment and systems and building support equipment and systems. Conduct process water chemistry analysis, adjust chemicals as necessary to achieve optimum water chemistry, document test results and chemical feed changes.

Follow all documented processes to coordinate, test, adjust sanitizer and record information on domestic water production from ground well. Perform preventative maintenance, corrective and inspections on electric/steam boilers, chillers, cooling tower systems, vacuum pumps, compressed air systems and other central utility related equipment and systems. Clean and maintain all equipment and work areas. Respond to and triage critical equipment alarms and make repairs as necessary.

Coordinate regulatory inspections by external agencies. Help coordinate internal and external maintenance work, may order materials and maintain inventory. Participate in the development of the "Owners Design Guidelines", project design phases and review processes. Inspect contracted and internal work as needed to ensure repairs and installations are compliant. Functions as a point of contact for vendors. Prepares and submits reports.

Participates in process improvement initiatives. May precept staff.
