Join our dynamic team as a Mechanical Design Engineer - Space Exploration Projects and become a vital contributor to support NASA as an Oceaneering Teammate on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract. As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role in the Mechanical Design section in the Engineering Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) Contract.

Someone in this role would typically have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a five (5) years of experience. This position can be hired at any level in our professional career framework, depending on business need at the time of hire.
International travel may be required. Straight time overtime, 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and/or 1 day of telework per week may be available.
Duties And Responsibilities
Some of your major responsibilities will include:
* Support NASA's future space exploration activities.
* Work in a team environment to analyze requirements and develop design solutions.
* Design, develop, test, analyze, and implement technical products and systems.
* Perform engineering design evaluations.
* Produce engineering drawings conforming to applicable standards.
* Perform dimensional tolerance analyses, including thermal effects and GD&T.
* Perform functional, structural and thermal analyses as required.
* Support design with hand calculations for fit, function, strength and thermal response.
* Prepare and present at various design reviews.
* Produce other design documentation as required.
* Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
* A BS Engineering degree from an accredited engineering school and typically a minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
* BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
* Experience designing parts and assemblies using 3D CAD modeling software.
* Experience producing drawings conforming to ASME Y14.5.
* Experience applying tolerance analyses, including thermal effects and GD&T.
* Experience with machine shop processes and rapid prototyping (3D printing).
* Experience with both structural and thermal analysis of parts and assemblies.
* Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills.
PREFERRED:
* Prior NASA (especially JSC) or aerospace development & manufacturing experience.
* Familiarity with JSC Engineering Drawing System Manual (JPR 8500).
