Mechanical Piping Designer

Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Piping Designer to join the team of a top client in the Houston, TX area. The person in this role will be providing engineer design support in a fast paced and ever evolving Hyperscale Data Center Module environment. They will be checking and approving drawings produced both in-house and by 3rd party partner and ensuring the accuracy, reliability, efficiency, and safety of the mechanical, piping, and structural scopes of work for Data Center Modules.

Day to day drawings for projects include:
piping layout/general arrangements, piping isometrics, piping schedule, piping tie-point/ interface drawings, piping insulation details, structural general arrangement drawings, structural weld details /notes, structural connection detail drawings, foundation support details, equipment mounting / support details, pipe support details, weight / COG reports, manual valve list, HVAC ducting, instrumentation, flow diagrams, Process and Instrument Diagrams, pump alignment drawings, handrails / ladders, walkways, and stairs as per OSHA, platform and grating detailed drawings, etc.

Required Skills & Experience

Must Haves:

• 10-15 years of experience as a mechanical piping designer

• CADWorx

• Solid Works or Inventor (both are preferred)

• Navisworks

• SAP

• Trade or associates degree
Prior experience preparing bulk MTOs (Material Take Offs) and detailed BOMs (Bill of Materials)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Prior Data Center environment experience
