OverviewTRC is seeking an Environmental Scientist or Engineer with our Ambient Air Monitoring group in Houston, TX
.

Our offerings include ambient air quality monitoring, meteorological monitoring, source testing, permitting, dispersion modeling, performance guarantee testing, and expert testimony. With more than 220 air quality scientists and engineers operating from a network of over 30 offices, TRC's Air Management Services (AMS) practice offers unparalleled breadth and depth of air quality monitoring and testing capabilities.
Responsibilities- Operation, repair and routine maintenance of air and meteorological monitoring equipment currently in use at multiple project sites.
- Calibration of sampling equipment in accordance with manufacturer's and TRC procedures.
- Equipment troubleshooting on an as‑needed basis.
- Deployment and collection of ambient air samples.
- Accurate completion of data sheets, calibration records, chain of custody forms, log books, and all other documentation required.
- Data compilation and processing including the use of dashboards and Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
- Strict adherence to site Health and Safety procedures as described in the H&S Plan.
- Candidate must have the ability to recognize data discrepancies to investigate and resolve technical/mechanical/electronic problems associated with errant data.
- Candidate must be able to work independently and have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Candidate must successfully complete Houston Area Safety Council general and site‑specific training courses.
- Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Environmental Science or other related field.
- Minimum of three years' experience in the sampling of air pollutants in ambient air and/or indoor air. This experience should include prior participation in environmental monitoring programs in a field setting, data review and validation as well as reporting.
- Knowledge of and experience with gas chromatography.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Candidate should have strong mechanical and electronic maintenance skills.
- Valid, unencumbered US driver's license.
- Candidates must be able to pass a pre‑employment background check, drug screen and motor vehicle records check as well as client‑required drug and background checks.
- Candidate must possess or be eligible for a TSA Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
