Field Technical Engineer – Probo Medical
Base pay range: $32.00/hr – $35.00/hr

POSITION SUMMARYReporting to the Area Service Manager, the Field Technical Engineer is responsible for performing OEM service and installations of medical devices, including repair, preventive maintenance, and upgrades. The candidate must be proficient on either Bone Mineral Densitometry (BMD) or Ultrasound (UL) equipment and maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, calibrations, and regulatory compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Install and service OEM medical devices, covering electrical, mechanical, and software components.
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance, unplanned maintenance, and required equipment upgrades.
- Maintain high customer satisfaction through service excellence.
- Accurately record all installations, repairs, and regulatory paperwork.
- Train customers on basic operation and use of medical devices.
- Manage inventory and return unused or failed parts promptly.
- Respond to customer inquiries in written, verbal, or telephone form, as appropriate.
- Escalate unresolved product problems to service management.
- Promote service contract offerings and assist Sales in selling agreements.
- Provide on‑call service coverage on a rotating basis as needed.
- Degree in electronics, biomedical engineering, biomedical technology, electrical engineering, or equivalent (military equivalency acceptable).
- 1–3 years of experience servicing BMD or Ultrasound equipment.
- Previous mechanical, electronics, or fluidics field service or hospital‑based experience.
- Solid computer skills with Microsoft Office, operating systems, and network technology.
- Experience interfacing with internal team members and external customers.
- Proficiency with digital multimeters and safety analyzers.
- Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, parts diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Valid driver’s license with good record; must pass motor‑vehicle check.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or military equivalency with 1–3 years experience on BMD or Ultrasound equipment.
- Problem‑solving, analytical thinking, independent work, professional communication.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, short notice, weekends, and rotating on‑call schedule.
- High mechanical aptitude; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Resourceful, adaptable, decision‑making, and creative thinking.
- Multi‑tasking in shifting priorities; productive under pressure.
- Compliance with mandatory certification/credentialing and client facility requirements (drug testing, immunizations).
The job requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, driving, and the ability to lift up to 50 lb. The employee must use hands, fingers, and arms; frequent use of vision and hearing. Adequate accommodations may be provided for disabilities.
