Due to continued growth, TRC Field Services (FSV) is seeking a Lead Relay Technician to support our Client Teams. With a staff of over 200 experienced utility and industrial commissioning engineers and test technicians, TRC delivers comprehensive, cost‑effective solutions safely to our Electric Utility Customers while providing the best training programs and mentors in this industry and numerous opportunities for growth with excellent benefits.

Our staff undergoes extensive, in‑house training, ensuring efficient project start‑up and adherence to your individual standards and specifications. We follow well‑documented procedures and guidelines to ensure safe and thorough planning and testing, so we can manage risk and safeguard ongoing operations.
Responsibilities- Plan, coordinate, perform and document all commissioning activities (pre‑commissioning, through construction, testing – commissioning, energization – project close‑out) of various utility substation protection, control and power circuits in accordance with TRC’s and Client’s requirements, budgets, schedules.
- Review wiring diagrams, schematics and engineering documents in advance of projects and outages.
- Perform troubleshooting and problem analysis associated with protection and control systems and utility substation equipment, including but not limited to application errors, drawing errors, wiring errors, settings errors, equipment malfunctions, questionable apparatus test results, battery ground faults.
- Participate in project meetings including kickoff, planning, progress, and lessons learned meetings.
- Prepare detailed daily, weekly, and project completion reports and documentation that includes project progress, issues or problems, recommendations, test results and analyses.
- Assist in developing project‑specific testing and commissioning plans, energization plans, or any other assigned project‑specific documentation.
- Identify risks and associated mitigation techniques on utility systems and equipment. Develop a Site Risk Assessment to document all high‑risk construction and commissioning activities and formalize the processes of circuit isolation and restoration to ensure no unintended operation of station equipment and protection systems and personnel safety.
