Position: Drainage Modeling Engineer (H&H Lead)

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Drainage Modeling Engineer with a strong background in hydrology and hydraulics (H&H). The candidate will take a lead role in managing and delivering H&H projects, leveraging advanced modeling tools and collaborating with public- and private-sector clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead hydrology and hydraulics (H&H) projects from planning through execution.
  • Perform drainage modeling and stormwater analysis using XP-SWMM, HEC-RAS (1D & 2D), and HEC-HMS.
  • Prepare and review flood studies, stormwater management plans, and technical reports.
  • Oversee and mentor junior engineers, ensuring quality deliverables and compliance with standards.
  • Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies for permitting and project approvals.
  • Manage client communication, budgets, and schedules while ensuring technical excellence.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in drainage modeling and stormwater engineering.
  • Proficiency with XP-SWMM, HEC-RAS (1D & 2D), and HEC-HMS.
  • Strong background in hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, floodplain studies, and drainage design.
  • Experience working with Houston-area clients preferred, but not required. Candidates with relevant experience outside Houston are also welcome.
  • Proven ability to lead H&H projects and manage project teams.
  • Excellent communication and client management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience coordinating with municipalities, DOTs, FEMA, or similar agencies.
  • Familiarity with GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) and advanced hydrology applications.
