Position: Geologist - Conduct Geological Studies for Oil Rig Operations

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Geologist to join our team and contribute to geological studies for oil rig operations. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in analyzing geological data, conducting field studies, and applying geological principles to ensure the safe and efficient extraction of oil and gas. As a Geologist in our team, you will play a critical role in understanding subsurface conditions, guiding drilling operations, and providing data-driven insights to maximize resource extraction while maintaining safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct geological studies and surveys to analyze subsurface conditions in oil rig areas.
  • Assess and interpret geological data from drilling operations, well logs, seismic surveys, and core samples.
  • Provide recommendations for drilling locations based on geological findings.
  • Work closely with engineers and other geologists to ensure the accuracy of geological models.
  • Prepare detailed geological reports, maps, and cross-sections to communicate findings to the operational team.
  • Monitor and assess geological risks, ensuring safety measures are in place during drilling operations.
  • Continuously update and refine geological data to support ongoing oil rig operations.
  • Assist in the identification of potential drilling hazards and suggest mitigation strategies.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in geological techniques and technologies to enhance the exploration and extraction process.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in geological analysis and studies, particularly in oil and gas exploration.
  • Proficient in geological software and tools for mapping, modeling, and data analysis.
  • Strong understanding of geological processes, rock formations, and subsurface structures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for preparing reports and presenting findings.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams, including engineers, drillers, and other geologists.
  • Detail‑oriented with a strong ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Geologist in the oil and gas industry, with a focus on oil rig operations and subsurface exploration.
  • Proven track record in conducting geological studies and providing actionable recommendations for drilling operations.
  • Hands‑on experience with drilling projects, well logs, and seismic surveys.
  • Previous experience working in offshore or onshore oil rig environments is highly preferred.
Working Hours:
  • Full‑time position with flexible working hours depending on project needs.
  • Ability to work in rotational shifts, including on‑site oil rig deployment, if applicable.
  • Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required based on operational demands.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of geological principles, tectonics, sedimentology, and geophysics.
  • Proficient in using geological software (e.g., Petrel, Geographix, ArcGIS) for data analysis and modeling.
  • Solid knowledge of environmental regulations and safety standards in the oil and gas industry.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines and project requirements.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating geological risks.
