Genesis is seeking a pigging/integrity engineer for a contract engineer position in Houston, TX.

About the Role

Genesis Technical Staffing is seeking a senior pigging/integrity engineer to serve as the subject matter expert for pipeline integrity and pigging on Equinor's Titan Decommissioning Project, delivered by Worley.

You will own the technical work that gets pipelines and risers ready for abandonment: integrity assessment, cleaning and flushing, dewatering, depressurization, and isolation. You will build the pigging programs, support their execution offshore, and produce the engineering records that prove each line was decommissioned safely and in compliance.

This is a hands-on, highly visible role. You will work daily with SURF, subsea, flow assurance, construction, SSU, and regulatory teams, and your recommendations will directly shape offshore operations.

Key Responsibilities Pipeline Integrity Assessment and Engineering
  • Perform integrity assessments of pipelines and risers ahead of decommissioning activities.
  • Review historical inspection records, corrosion assessments, wall thickness data, and anomaly classifications to establish current line condition.
  • Develop engineering recommendations for safe depressurization, isolation, cleaning, and removal.
Pigging Program Development and Execution Support
  • Design complete pigging programs covering cleaning, gauging, debris removal, chemical treatment, and displacement sequences.
  • Specify pig types and configurations, batching techniques, chemical additives, push fluids, and operating parameters.
  • Support offshore execution, including pig tracking, differential pressure monitoring, flow rate control, and operational readiness checks.
Interface Management and Multi-Discipline Coordination
  • Coordinate pigging and integrity scopes with SURF, flow assurance, regulatory, and construction teams.
  • Align pigging and integrity activities with SIMOPS plans and marine operation windows.
  • Respond to technical queries (TQs), RFIs, and integrity-related clarifications.
Documentation, Reporting and Regulatory Compliance
  • Prepare engineering deliverables, including pigging procedures, integrity assessments, readiness reports, as-found/as-left documentation, and close-out records.
  • Ensure all work complies with Equinor governing documents, Worley standards, and U.S. offshore regulations (BSEE, BOEM, and USCG).
  • Support audits, assurance reviews, and lessons-learned workshops related to integrity and pigging.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, petroleum, subsea, or pipeline engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in pipeline pigging and offshore operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of pigging technologies and of pipeline decommissioning and abandonment engineering.
  • Direct experience with offshore pipeline operations, barrier and isolation philosophy, nitrogen displacement, and cleaning programs.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and technical writing skills, with a track record of managing multi-discipline interfaces.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Prior work on deepwater Gulf of Mexico decommissioning or P&A projects.
  • Experience on Equinor or Worley projects, or familiarity with their governing documents and standards.
  • Hands-on offshore experience supporting live…
