Mechanical Test Engineer in Waller, Texas.Do you enjoy answering complex engineering questions through hands-on testing, data analysis, and real-world experimentation?
Are you the type of engineer who would rather build a test, collect the data, and find the answer than debate the theory?
As a Test Engineer at SES, you’ll turn complex questions into meaningful data. This role blends mechanical engineering fundamentals with hands‑on testing and system operation in a dynamic, industrial laboratory environment. You’ll plan and execute custom tests, design fixtures and methods, instrument hardware, collect high‑quality data, and transform results into clear, actionable insights.
Projects span transportation systems, aerospace components, oil and gas equipment, industrial processes, mechanical and electrical systems, and engineering materials. The common thread: understanding how a system is supposed to perform, and proving whether it actually does.
What Success Looks LikeSuccessful Test Engineers at Stress are adaptable problem solvers who thrive in both independent and collaborative environments. You’re hands‑on, mechanically curious, and comfortable working with electro‑mechanical systems, instrumentation, and multiple sensor types. You can safely navigate a heavy industrial lab setting, juggle competing priorities, and keep projects moving forward, even when tests don’t go as planned.
Strong communication skills are essential. You’ll routinely interact with teammates and clients, translating technical details into clear verbal explanations and well‑written test methods and reports. Experience in regulated or safety‑critical industries (aerospace, transportation, oil and gas, etc.) is a plus. Depending on your experience, you may also take the lead on managing projects, interfacing directly with clients, and guiding the work of other engineers and technicians.
QualificationsRequired Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required
- Master's degree in Engineering preferred, or 5+ years of relevant testing, validation, or product development experience
- Demonstrated experience planning, executing, and documenting engineering tests in laboratory, field, or industrial environments
Due to the nature of the work performed and access to ITAR‑controlled technical data, candidates must qualify as a U.S. Person under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), as defined in 22 CFR § 120.62.
Technical Qualifications- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, engineering fundamentals, and experimental methods
- Knowledge of material properties, behavior, and failure mechanisms of metals, polymers, composites, and other engineering materials under mechanical, thermal, and environmental loading conditions
- Experience developing test plans, procedures, protocols, and reports suitable for verification, validation, qualification, or regulatory environments
- Experience validating test methods for repeatability, reproducibility, and measurement accuracy
- Familiarity with instrumentation, data acquisition systems, sensors, and test control hardware/software
- Ability to analyze and interpret experimental data and communicate technical findings through clear written reports and presentations
- Working knowledge of statistical analysis techniques…
