I am working with an established civil engineering consultancy that is looking to appoint a Civil Designer or Senior Civil Designer to its Land Development team in Houston.
The successful candidate will produce detailed civil engineering plans for a range of residential, commercial, industrial and mixed-use development projects.
Salary: $75,000-$115,000, depending on experience
Job Specifications:
- Prepare detailed land and site development construction plans
- Produce grading, drainage, paving, utility and stormwater drawings
- Create alignments, profiles, surfaces and pipe networks using Civil 3D
- Work closely with project managers and engineers throughout project delivery
- Incorporate technical calculations and engineering information into design plans
- Coordinate drawing revisions and respond to review comments
- Assist with municipal submissions, permitting and approvals
- Maintain drawing standards, accuracy and quality
- Support junior designers and CAD technicians where appropriate
Key Requirements:
- Previous civil design experience within land or site development
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Experience producing grading, drainage, paving and utility plans
- Understanding of civil construction documents and design standards
- Ability to work independently while coordinating with project teams
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Associate degree or relevant technical qualification would be beneficial
- Previous Houston-area project experience is preferred
- Senior-level candidates should have experience reviewing plans and supporting junior staff
