Relay Project Engineer

Our client is looking for a Project Engineer to support substation projects by coordinating the fabrication and delivery of relay protection panels. This person will work closely with vendors, engineering teams, procurement, construction, and operations to make sure equipment is built correctly and delivered on time.

The position is heavily focused on project coordination, vendor management, materials tracking, reporting, and schedule management rather than performing relay settings or protection studies.

Day-to-Day

• Coordinate relay panel fabrication with vendors
• Track production schedules and delivery timelines
• Review engineering drawings and equipment specifications
• Monitor fabrication progress and quality
• Visit local vendor facilities around Houston
• Maintain status reports and tracking spreadsheets
• Work with Engineering, Construction, Procurement, and Operations teams
• Resolve material shortages and schedule issues

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field
• 2-4 years of project engineering or project coordination experience
• Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
• Experience working with vendors and equipment/material deliveries
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Experience with reporting, budgeting, or material tracking

Preferred

• Utility industry experience
• Transmission & Distribution (T&D) experience
