Closes: DNV – Maritime, Region Americas is seeking a Junior Approval Engineer - CMC Approval to join our team.  As a Certification of Materials and Components (CMC) Junior Approval Engineer, you will be member of a highly qualified team of individuals fulfilling certification design approval activities for the offshore Oil and Gas, Drilling, and Maritime industries. This role is based at our DNV office in Houston, TX, presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from the DNV office.

What You’ll Do Design assessment activities for components and systems for the maritime and offshore sectors, as well as with independent 3rd party verification services of the same. Design assessment activities for certification of equipment and systems to Class Society rules and standards as well as Verification of equipment and systems to other recognized industry specifications. Perform design assessments of mechanical equipment, pressure equipment, and control/monitoring systems for clients within the US/Canada.

Ensure that the work or duties performed are in accordance with the Rules, Regulations, Instructions, Guidelines and quality requirements of the organization and the instructions of the line management.

Maintain the confidentiality of Clients' business, processes, designs, developments, and documentation at all times. The person should have a solid background in Mechanical engineering or reasonable engineering equivalent, with the ability to function effectively in high pressure environments while multi-tasking, be self-motivated and resourceful.

Qualifications What is Required Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Ocean Engineering completed by May/June 2027

Previous work or internship experience in Maritime or Offshore environment.
Language:
English Speaking / Writing proficiency. Must be an exemplary communicator. Behavioral competencies: A competent team player, but comfortable working primarily independently. Represent DNV and its brand in a most professional manner. Ability to collaborate with peers and share knowledge and experiences. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (incl. Word, Excel) and other digital communications and digital data collection/reporting platforms Propensity for continuous improvement within the team Ambition for continuous learning and education, Curious to learn and grow further.

Willingness to apply technology to drive DNV’s digital strategy, for example remote survey solutions. Possess a curious and intuitive nature.

Possess a friendly customer-oriented focus. Physical Ability Requirements:

Ability to work hybrid office environment: 3 days in and 2 days remote  Ability to travel up to 10% of the time (Domestic/Internatinal) to customer locations via own vehicle or commercial airline.  Must have current valid driver's license and be able to drive at minimum 4 hours in duration  conduct a pre-employment background check and drug screen

What is Preferred Bachelor's Degree within Engineering from an ABET accredited program. Internship experience in upstream, midstream, or downstream within the offshore Oil and Gas, Drilling, or Maritime industries.

Previous work experience with systems or equipment design or manufacturing.
