Job Description & How to Apply Below
Description

Advanced Equipment and Services, Inc., a Veyra company, is looking for an AutoCAD Plant 3D Designer to join our engineering and manufacturing team in Houston.

In this role, you will transform process concepts into accurate, buildable 3D models and production drawings for water treatment equipment and containerized systems. You will collaborate closely with project engineers, vendors, and fabrication professionals throughout the project lifecycle, from initial layouts and design reviews through fabrication, testing, shipment, and final as-built documentation.

If you enjoy technical design, hands‑on problem‑solving, and seeing your work move from a digital model to a finished system, this position offers an opportunity to make a visible impact.

What you'll do
  • Create and update 3D piping and equipment models in AutoCAD Plant 3D for water treatment skids, containers, and related systems.
  • Produce P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, piping layouts, isometric drawings, and fabrication drawings using AutoCAD Plant 3D and AutoCAD.
  • Develop and maintain drawing packages, equipment tags, line lists, and bills of materials.
  • Keep models, drawings, and supporting documents aligned as project designs evolve.
  • Coordinate piping routes, equipment locations, access requirements, clearances, and constructability with engineers, vendors, and fabrication teams.
  • Incorporate customer comments, design reviews, and shop‑floor feedback into updated models and issued drawings.
  • Review drawings for dimensional accuracy, connections, materials, and consistency with project specifications and P&IDs.
  • Support fabrication and assembly by answering drawing questions, helping resolve fit‑up issues, and documenting approved design changes.
  • Maintain organized project files, drawing revisions, and as‑built documentation following fabrication and testing.
Requirements What You'll Bring
  • Hands‑on proficiency with AutoCAD Plant 3D
, including the development of 3D piping models and production drawings.
  • Ability to read and prepare P&IDs, piping layouts, general arrangement drawings, and isometric drawings.
  • Experience with industrial piping, mechanical equipment, skid‑mounted systems, or similar fabricated equipment.
  • Working knowledge of fabrication practices and constructability considerations.
  • Strong attention to detail, drawing organization, and revision control.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • The ability to organize priorities and contribute to multiple projects.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more years of relevant AutoCAD Plant 3D design or mechanical drafting experience.
  • A degree or technical training in mechanical engineering, drafting, CAD, or a related field. An engineering degree is welcomed, but not required.
  • Experience designing or documenting reverse osmosis, desalination, filtration, pumps, valves, pressure vessels, or instrumentation.
  • Experience preparing bills of materials, shop drawing packages, or as‑built documentation.
Who Thrives in This Role

You may be a strong fit if you enjoy turning process requirements into clear, practical designs that can be successfully fabricated and assembled. You are equally comfortable collaborating with engineers and working through real‑world questions with the shop floor. You take pride in accuracy, organized documentation, and producing drawings that teams can confidently build from.

An interest in learning more about water treatment technologies and manufactured treatment systems will help you succeed in this position.
