Financial Consultant, Risk Manager/Analyst
Position Summary
The Trader purchases and sells natural-gas commodities, executes market strategies, and manages price and volume risk. Working closely with Scheduling, Risk, and Compliance, the role delivers timely, profitable trades while meeting all contractual and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze real-time and forward markets to spot pricing trends, supply risks, and trading opportunities.
- Execute physical trades that optimize margin and align with risk limits.
- Monitor volumes and pipeline constraints; coordinate with Schedulers to correct imbalances.
- Enter, confirm, and reconcile trades in ETRM systems, ensuring accuracy from deal capture through settlement.
- Report positions, P&L drivers, and market insights to senior leadership and Risk.
- Cultivate relationships with counter parties, pipelines, and market hubs to enhance deal flow.
- Ensure strict compliance with internal policies, exchange rules, and applicable regulations (FERC, CFTC, NAESB).
- Provide after-hours, weekend, and holiday on-call coverage during critical periods.
- Assist in onboarding and mentoring new traders, sharing best practices and system know-how.
- Bachelor´s degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, Finance, or related field.
- 3+ years in energy or commodity trading, scheduling, or related front-office role.
- Commercial insight and clear understanding of how trading decisions influence operational and financial outcomes.
- Ability to analyze complex market scenarios, identify root causes, and devise actionable solutions.
- Proficiency with trade-capture and risk systems (e.g., Allegro or other ETRM platforms).
- Strong quantitative skills in Excel; familiarity with Python or SQL a plus.
- Clear, concise communication for negotiating deals and conveying market intelligence.
- Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays; maintain composure under pressure.
- Experience in U.S. and Mexican natural-gas markets or other energy commodities.
- Familiarity with options pricing, basis differentials, and cross-border logistics.
