What you’ll own
VERSYS (Verified Systems) is growing fast—and we’re looking for a hands‑on Controller to build the financial backbone that supports scalable, profitable growth across multiple entities and jurisdictions. If you’re a CPA who loves clean closes, strong controls, and building scalable processes in a project‑based environment, you’ll love this role.
Financial leadership & controls- Own the integrity of month‑end and year‑end close, consolidations, and financial reporting across entities
- Build and enforce internal controls across AP, AR, payroll, and contractor billing
- Create and implement SOPs that drive consistency, speed, and audit readiness
- Coordinate audits and maintain audit‑ready support files
- Oversee accurate, compliant payroll across US + Canada, including multi‑state tax considerations
- Ensure AP/AR teams hit timelines with high accuracy and clean coding
- Review/approve complex invoices, payroll adjustments, contractor files, and billing exceptions
- Validate financial integrity through 3‑way matching where applicable (Contract ↔ LEM ↔ Invoice)
- Strengthen job costing accuracy using LEMs, field data, rates, and coding discipline
- Partner with Operations to flag variances early and improve margin visibility
- Improve dashboards and reporting to support predictability and profitability
- Ensure multi‑state compliance (payroll tax, corporate, sales/use where applicable)
- Oversee reconciliations, remittances, and documentation for audits and reviews
- Be the “go‑to” finance leader for Ops/HR/field teams—clear, confident, and solutions‑oriented
- Explain the why behind controls and cutoffs, and drive adoption without friction
- Build a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
This isn’t a “keep the lights on” Controller role. You’ll build a finance function that can scale while supporting growth, new entity launches, and disciplined expansion. You’ll stay closely connected to how work actually happens in project‑based environments, partnering with Operations to improve visibility, consistency, and decision‑making.
We’re a people‑first company that’s genuinely #Invested in relationships. We move fast, take ownership, and build teams that are proud of the work they deliver.
What we’re looking for Must‑haves- CPA required
- 6+ years progressive accounting experience (Controller‑level ownership preferred)
- Strong background in project costing / construction accounting and LEM‑driven workflows
- Demonstrated experience with multi‑state payroll tax and compliance
- Proven ability to lead AP/AR/payroll functions and raise team capability
- Audit experience (public accounting or internal)
- Multi‑entity / consolidation experience across jurisdictions
- Strong systems + Excel/Sheets skills (you can spot issues fast and fix the root cause)
- Confident communicator who can build alignment across Finance ↔ Operations ↔ Field
- Competitive Salary
- 3‑weeks paid time off
- Health Insurance Premium Contribution
- 401K Matching
- A high‑impact leadership seat with direct access to executive decision‑making
- Autonomy to build systems that scale (and the support to implement them)
- A team that values accountability, precision, and relationships
If you’re the kind of Controller who:
- builds strong teams,
- creates clean, scalable systems,
- and turns financial data into decision‑ready insight…
